Varius by Unnur Eva Arnarsdóttir is a simple textured knitted scarf designed to make variegated yarn the star of the project. Its small repeating texture breaks up the colors beautifully, creating a fabric that looks much more intricate than the straightforward scarf shape suggests.

Why Varius Works So Well With Variegated Yarn
The designer created Varius specifically while looking for a texture that would complement variegated yarn rather than compete with it. The result is a compact repeating surface that allows frequent color changes to remain visible throughout the scarf.
This makes the design particularly interesting for skeins that look beautiful on their own but can become visually busy in complicated cables or lace.

The original project recommends Araucania Yarns Aysen, an Aran-weight blend of merino wool, alpaca and silk.
